These panels are made for the waiting area of the Outpatients Department of the Christie Hospital, a locally based regional cancer treatment centre.  The Outpatients Department is a very busy place and a particularly stressful environment.  These hangings will improve the environment by brightening the area and providing visual interest. Involving the users in the creation of the hangings also provided an alternative focus of activity.  The starting point for the design was a theme of water and light on water, which was chosen as being appropriately calming and relaxing.
